Biography
Wang Lijun (born 28 January 1959) is a Chinese police official. He served as Chongqing Police Chief and Vice Mayor of Chongqing from 2009 to 2012, and was the principal executor of the organised crime crackdown led by Bo Xilai. On 6 February 2012, Wang Lijun entered the United States Consulate General in Chengdu, remaining on the premises for approximately thirty hours before departing and being taken into custody by Chinese authorities. He disclosed to US personnel information regarding Gu Kailai's alleged role in the murder of British businessman Neil Heywood, thereby triggering the full-scale investigation into Bo Xilai. In September 2012, Wang Lijun was sentenced to fifteen years in prison on charges of defection, abuse of power, bribery, and perverting the course of justice.
