Biography
Vasco Rocha Vieira (born 1939) is a Portuguese military general who served as the last Governor of Macau from 1991 to 1999, a tenure spanning the final phase of Macau's transition period. He oversaw the administrative handover preparations in the lead-up to the return, including the implementation of localisation policies and arrangements to safeguard the official status of Portuguese. On 20 December 1999, he attended the sovereignty transfer ceremony and departed Macau upon its conclusion, marking the end of more than four centuries of Portuguese administration.
